Intra Uterine Insemination
Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI) is a procedure where sperm is introduced into the uterus at the time of ovulation. To accurately predict when ovulation will occur blood tests and scans are carried out throughout the menstrual cycle. Medication may also be used to assist with ovulation.

The IUI procedure is very simple and bit similar to a PAP smear. The cervix is visualised with the aid of a speculum. A very thin flexible catheter in gently introduced through the cervix and the sperm is then placed into the uterus. This procedure should not be painful and would normally only take a few minutes.
